Atmosphere is a layer of air which protects the Earth like a blanket.It is essential for the existence of life on the Earth.It contains gases like carbon dioxide, nitrogen and oxygen. It also contains dust particles and water vapour.

# Provide Oxygen.

# Protect all the living things in the earth from harmful ultraviolet and gamma rays.

# Reasons for climatic phenomena like rain and snow etc..

ഭൂമിയെ ഒരു പുതപ്പുപോലെ പൊതിഞ്ഞു സംരക്ഷിക്കുന്ന വാതകപാളിയാണ് വായൂമണ്ഡലം അഥവാ അന്തരീക്ഷം. ഭൂമിയിൽ ജീവൻ നിലനിൽക്കുന്നതിന് അന്തരീക്ഷം കൂടിയേ തീരു. കാർബൺ ഡൈ ഓക്‌സൈഡ്, നൈട്രജൻ, ഓക്‌സിജൻ തുടങ്ങിയ വാതകങ്ങളെ കൂടാതെ പൊടിപടലങ്ങളും നീരാവിയും അന്തരീക്ഷത്തിൽ അടങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
