Father Comes Alive

One day, the fisherman was walking along the seashore. After the death of his father, it was for the first time he was going out. ‘Oh, my father! How loving he was…!’ he thought. ‘Never can I see him again.’ Suddenly, a flash of light fell on his eyes. Something shining was lying on the sand. He picked it up and looked at it. He had never seen such a thing before. He saw a face in it. He was scared. He threw it away. But after a while, he walked towards it again. He picked it up and saw the face in it again.
He had never seen his own face before. He thought it was his father’s face. He was very happy. He thanked God for sending his father’s picture. He smiled at the picture. What a surprise! It smiled back!

He turned the mirror to see if his father was behind it. But he could not see anyone. Once more he turned it to his face. ‘Ah, my loving father!’ He spoke to his father. His father’s lips moved but he heard nothing. He became sad. He cried. His father too seemed to cry. He held the mirror close to his heart and went home.

പെട്ടെന്ന് അയാളുടെ കണ്ണിൽ മിന്നൽ പോലെ ഒരു വെളിച്ചമടിച്ചു. തിളങ്ങുന്ന എന്തോ ഒന്ന് മണലിൽ കിടപ്പുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അവൻ അത് എടുത്തു അതിലേയ്ക്ക് നോക്കി. ഇതിന് മുൻപ് അത്തരമൊന്ന് അവൻ കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല. അതിൽ അവൻ ഒരു മുഖം കണ്ടു. അവൻ പേടിച്ചു. അയാളത് ദൂരേയ്ക്ക് എറിഞ്ഞു.പക്ഷെ കുറച്ചു സമയത്തിന് ശേഷം അവൻ അതിനടുത്തേയ്‌ക്ക് നീങ്ങി. അത് അവൻ എടുത്തു അവന്റെ മുഖം അതിൽ വീണ്ടും കണ്ടു.
അയാൾ ഇതിന് മുൻപ് അവന്റെ സ്വന്തം മുഖം കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല. അത് അവന്റെ അച്ഛന്റെ മുഖമാണെന്ന് അവൻ കരുതി. അവന് വളരെ സന്തോഷമായി. അച്ഛന്റെ ചിത്രം തന്നതിന് അയാൾ ദൈവത്തോട് നന്ദി പറഞ്ഞു. അയാൾ ചിത്രത്തിൽ നോക്കി ചിരിച്ചു. എന്തൊരത്ഭുതം അത് തിരിച്ചു ചിരിച്ചു.
അച്ഛൻ പിറകിലുണ്ടോ എന്ന് നോക്കുവാനായി കണ്ണാടി അയാൾ തിരിച്ചു. പക്ഷേ ആരെയും കാണുവാൻ അവന് കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. ഒരിക്കൽക്കൂടി അവൻ കണ്ണാടി തന്റെ മുഖത്തിന് നേരെ തിരിച്ചു."ഹാ, എന്റെ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട അച്ഛൻ!" അയാൾ അച്ഛനോട് സംസാരിച്ചു. അച്ഛന്റെ ചുണ്ടുകൾ അനങ്ങുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നെങ്കിലും ഒന്നും അയാൾ കേട്ടില്ല. അയാൾക്ക് സങ്കടമായി. അയാൾ കരഞ്ഞു. അയാളുടെ അച്ഛനും കരയുന്നതായി കാണപ്പെട്ടു. അയാൾ ആ കണ്ണാടി നെഞ്ചോട് ചേർത്ത് വീട്ടിലേയ്‌ക്ക്‌ പോയി.
